Sugar Skulls Challenge of the Month
Perfect challenge for this time of the year! Sugar skulls are everywhere here in San Diego because November 1 & 2 we celebrate Dia de los Muertos or Day of the Dead. Those who have gone before us are remembered with love, celebration, food and festivities.
Marigolds are the traditional flower of this special day, said to lead the souls of the departed back to their loved ones to celebrate at the ofrendas or altars, that have been created to honor them.
Jennifer Stout Cameron created this amazing glass sugar skull that I am so happy to be able to work with. I've used .5mm C-Lon cord for the micro macramé, 3mm Miyuki cubes, 10mm Basha Bead and a Swarovski Champagne AB crystal. My piece isn't quite finished yet because I keep changing my mind! I'm either going to use these faceted Pyrites or macramé a cord using square knots interspersed with the Pyrites. And lots of crystals on the fringe. See my dilemma? As soon as it's done, I'll post it here and on Face Book-promise!
Thank you Jenn Cameron, for organizing this great challenge! And thanks for stopping by!
